These are some images from a trip into the Tararua range which is about an hour north of Wellington, the highest tops are around 1.500 meteres high, there are good huts on the ridgelines and valleys to stay in, we chose a round of Jumbo and Mt Holdsworth, the beautiful forests are a highlight of the range. We have a plan to climb Mitre, the highest peak in a few months, I would also like to do the Southern Crossing this year, a 38k traverse across the high tops, then perhaps the harder Northern crossing.

  1. Love the pictures! Would love them in a larger format so that we could see them better instead of having to click on each photo to see the larger version. Just a thought! Thanks! Found someone else to hold my bag for me. Thanks for the offer though. I really appreciate it!
